For current owners Bruce and son Thad McDermott, living and working the land is second nature. A long history of ranchers precedes them, and as fourth generation owners the tradition continues.
McDermott Ranch was founded in 1937 by John and Violet McDermott. As a rancher and a servant to the land, John began feeding Hereford Cattle with work horses.
Son Doug and wife Alice continued the tradition raising good cattle and grazing steers. John began with 980 areas of land and the ranch has expanded to over 25,000 acres.
Bruce and son Thad now have expanded the ranch to background feeding calves with and Angus base cow herd along with raising fantastic AQHA quarter horses.
In addition to the cattle, the McDermotts own and operate Medicine Creek Outfitters and McDermott Auction Service. The ranch includes a spacious cabin, a sale barn, and a professional arena.
We invite you to visit the ranch for the day, or stay a while. Once you are here you will understand why we have stayed on this great land for 70 years.
